Four Years of WBT: A $16.1 Billion Сapitalization Milestone and Growing Institutional Recognition

Four Years of WBT: A $16.1 Billion Сapitalization Milestone and Growing Institutional Recognition

WhiteBIT Coin (WBT), the native coin of the WhiteBIT exchange, has marked its fourth anniversary with a market capitalization of $16.1 billion and a position among the world’s top 10 cryptocurrencies, according to CoinDesk data.

From $1.62 to a Global Top-10 Cryptocurrency

WBT entered the market in 2022 at an opening price of $1.62. Four years later, the coin is trading at around $56, representing an increase of approximately 35 times from its debut price.

The coin reached its all-time high of $64.11 in December 2025, according to CoinGecko. Over the past 12 months alone, WBT has appreciated by 28.3%.

Its growth has taken place across multiple market cycles rather than being concentrated around a single period of heightened market activity. WBT continued developing throughout the more subdued crypto market of 2023 without a relaunch or fundamental restructuring of its tokenomics.

Four Years of Expanding Utility

WBT was initially launched as a utility token designed to provide benefits to users of the WhiteBIT exchange, including trading-fee discounts. Since then, its role has expanded considerably.

Following the launch of Whitechain, WBT became the blockchain’s native coin and today plays a broader role across the WhiteBIT ecosystem. Its utility includes trading-fee benefits, staking opportunities, referral rewards, access to Launchpad activities, and its use as a native asset within Whitechain.

This evolution has accompanied the broader expansion of WhiteBIT from a cryptocurrency exchange into a global digital asset ecosystem.

Growing Recognition Across the Institutional Market

Alongside its market growth, WBT has gained increasing recognition from established financial-market institutions.

In 2025, WBT was added to five S&P Dow Jones Indices cryptocurrency benchmarks, including the S&P Cryptocurrency Broad Digital Market Index. Its inclusion brought WBT into a set of institutional-grade benchmarks designed to track the performance of the broader digital asset market.

WBT’s full token supply has been unlocked as of 2026, marking another milestone in the coin’s four-year lifecycle. At the same time, its deflationary mechanism remains in place: WBT is regularly removed from circulation through burns funded by 33% of WhiteBIT trading-fee income and 5% of income from other exchange activities. The mechanism is designed to progressively reduce the total supply until 200 million WBT remain in circulation.

Four years after its launch, WBT’s development reflects the transformation of the asset from an exchange-focused utility token into a cryptocurrency with broader ecosystem utility, global market presence, and growing recognition within institutional digital-asset infrastructure.
